Nature Trails
Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River offers plenty of walking and nature trails for anyone who may want to get out and enjoy the scenery. Hike along the trails at Shenandoah National Park or the Massanutten Storybook Trail. For the more serious hikers, we are located only a few miles away from the George Washington National Forest.
Hawksbill Summit Trails:
Looking to reach the highest peak in Shenandoah? At 4,051 feet, the Hawksbill Summit offers stunning 360-degree views of the Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Virginia Piedmont from its stone platform. There are a few different ways to reach the top, each offering a slightly different experience:
Hawksbill Loop
A 2.1-mile round-trip trail rated moderate and is perfect for those wanting a varied path up and down. Estimated hiking time is around 2 hours.
Hawksbill Summit Trail
A 1.7-mile out-and-back hike, also rated moderate. Estimated hiking time is around 1 hour to complete.
Upper Hawksbill Trail
At 2.1 miles round-trip and rated easiest, this is a gentler option that still offers the same stunning summit views. Estimated hiking time is around 1- 2 hours to complete.
Waterfall Hikes:
Rose River Falls
This beautiful 4-mile circuit is rated moderate and features streams, a footbridge, and a 67-foot waterfall. Estimated hiking time is around 4 -5 hours.
South River Falls
A 3.3-mile loop rated moderate, this trail offers wildflowers, birdwatching, and an 83-foot waterfall. Estimated hiking time is around 2 - 3 hours.
Lands Run Falls
A short hike following a series of cascades that descend about 80 feet into a gorge. Note that it may not have water in dry seasons. Estimated hiking time is around 1 - 2 hours.
White Oak Falls (Upper & Lower)
- Lower Trail: A quick 2-mile out-and-back, rated easiest. Estimated hiking time is around 1.5 - 2 hours.
- Upper Trail: A longer 4.6-mile round trip, rated moderate. Both offer scenic waterfalls and peaceful forest views. Estimated hiking time is around 3 - 4 hours.

Marys Rock Summit
This 3.7-mile round-trip trail climbs 1,210 feet to a sweeping overlook of the Shenandoah Valley and Massanutten Mountain. Rated moderate, allow about 3.5 hours to complete. Estimated hiking time is around 3 - 4 hours.
Little Devils Stairs Loop
For experienced hikers (and energetic pups), this 7.4-mile loop is strenuous but rewarding. Expect to hike through streams, wildflowers, and rugged terrain. Estimated hiking time is around 8 - 9 hours.
